So, a terrible thing happened, I got out of maternity leave. Returned to office work. I was intimidated by the possibility of returning to the past style of eating with cakes and cookies, but, thank God, this has not happened yet. But my keto diet has also changed. Let me tell you what it is like to be on keto in the office.

Mistakes in low-carb meals in the office

The main mistake. Two meals a day

I thought: “I’ll go to work and continue to eat as on maternity leave. A hearty breakfast and a hearty dinner, and everything will be fine. "

In the first week, it became clear that I didn’t eat enough for breakfast so that I could calmly survive until dinner.

A new way of life is a serious stress, a new rhythm, a new speed of the energy domain. Having had breakfast at 6 in the morning, by 12 I was ready to eat the elephant. After all, in the morning I managed to get up, collect / dress myself and the child, take to the garden, take a walk with him, then walk for coffee, then the subway, the office. And there, in general, everything is new. You need to delve into, study, get acquainted and think. I was very tired and exhausted without lunch.

In the evening she pounced on the refrigerator. I could not fully communicate with people, all thoughts were about eating and sleeping. Even after a full night's sleep, I did not feel rested.

Mistake two: snacking from the tent

I decided to start eating dark chocolate and nuts in the office. But Ostap was carried away. My old passion for chocolate woke up and one day I realized that I was eating not so bitter and not so keto chocolate, but still hungry. I realized that if I eat some chocolates, I will quickly return to my other bad eating habits.

Mistake three: monotony

Plan B. I will buy butter and cheese for work, and I will have a snack with them when I'm really hungry. And for a couple of days I felt so normal. But then I realized that my keto is turning into junk - food keto.

Scrambled eggs in the morning, butter and cheese for lunch, for dinner, if you are too lazy to cook, then also butter and cheese.

This did not add strength to me. And the monotonous eating of packaged foods further exacerbated stress. The body clearly needed micronutrients. But here the misfortune helped.

I was very poisoned. I can't say for sure what, cheese or butter, but I felt so bad that it seemed that I would not survive this night, and there would be no one to continue this blog.

It became clear that this is a very risky eating style. And I remembered how recently my hair fell out. When you eat the same, you completely depend on the quality of these foods and overeat them. Before, I could eat 40 grams of butter and forget about it for a day. But now the bill went to half a pack a day.

Conclusions about keto in the office

After the poisoning, I could not put anything in my mouth for 1.5 days. And this day helped me a lot to clear my brain and finally take a sober look at the situation.

  • No, I cannot continue to eat as on maternity leave. I clearly need more strength and energy now.
  • No, I can't do without lunch on weekdays. Especially if breakfast is at 6 am or never happened.
  • No, you can't let everything go by itself. My body is my business. And my health too. And if it seems to me that I have no time for food, then it only seems to me.
  • I found 10 minutes to run into the store in the morning and throw fresh food into my backpack. Avocado, jar of cream cheese or mascarpone, nuts, berries, tomatoes, peppers. The benefit of the salary is that now I can afford a nourishing giant avocado every day, and I also take fatter nuts. Sometimes I pamper myself with macadamia.
  • Temporarily tied up with butter. Only ghee.
  • I buy different cheeses, but the hardest.
  • I also found time on a weekend to stew cabbage for a week in a fatty proportion of 70 grams of ghee per 1 kg of oil. Plan your meals! Maria Emmerich told me at her lecture about keto.
  • And I find the opportunity to replenish the refrigerator with vegetables, fish and meat once a week. Made a supply of olive oil.

Office keto menu

Now my office keto menu is based on three principles:

  1. you need not only fat, but also vegetables.
  2. don't miss lunch
  3. it is imperative to maintain a variety of foods

The diet looks something like this.
At 6 am breakfast of omelette with 2 eggs and cream. On the way, the coffee is black.

At 12-13 pm lunch with avocado, cream cheese, nuts and coffee. Sometimes I add some berries and mini peppers. I eat tomatoes too. I love cabbage.

In the evening, around 19:00, dinner with a piece of fish / chicken in oil from the oven. Anything can be salted, covered with spices, poured / greased with oil and put into the oven. And it will definitely be delicious.

Every day something fermented: sauerkraut, etc.

I eat vegetables willingly. Sometimes instead of meat / fish I eat keto - a salad of vegetables and seeds in olive oil. Now, for some reason, she fell in love with gnawing leaves of raw white cabbage, although she had not eaten at all before.

On those days when breakfast at home did not happen, I have breakfast in the office or in a cafe I grab a Caesar salad without sauce.

No, I don't weigh the food at all and don't write it down. I choose the least low-carb foods available and appetizing, and eat them without asking questions.

And no, I don’t ask the question “what is my proportion of BJU? Do I have keto or LCHF? " I believe that liberal keto is also keto, and the proportion is individual for everyone. I am full, I eat, I sleep, I have strength - it means that I am comfortable and it does not matter what it is called.

On such a diet, I eat calmly, without severe hunger, sleep, communicate, work.

About weight

Yes, damn it, I lost weight again, although I have not had such a task for a long time. I think my weight is normal and comfortable, but on my office keto I'm losing weight so quickly that I didn't even notice minus 3 kg.

I don't think this is a good result. I felt comfortable when the weight was at the same figure for almost the entire last year of my decree. I don't want to stress the body with jumps.

About appetite

Yes, again the effect of “I’m full, although I ate a little, and no longer climbs” begins. But in such situations, I now remember that malnutrition and stress can cause hair to fall out, and I eat something else.

And so I was not drawn to rolls and cakes, thank God.
